Food and Snacks for the Party:
Try to create a caterpillar sub sandwich: use oilives to create eyes and carrot sticks for feet. Make "worms". Take hotdogs cut into slivers lengthwise, boil them (they will curl up) and serve them. "Ants on a log"- use celery sticks with peanut butter and raisins on top. "Bug Juice". Any kid's favorite drink can be chosen. Caterpillars - puffed Cheetos. You can hold all favors in the plastic bug jar kits which can be purchased in the dollar store. Take some plastic bugs, a mini butterfly net, a magnifying glass. The prizes for this party can be: plastic bugs, a bug journal, additonal bug kits, a play latern, bug stickers, bug shaped erasers. Funny Games and Activities:
* Do a bean bag toss from large plastic bugs. Toss into a bucket. Another example is to set up a few pails and put a value amount to the different pails. A kid whose score is the highest wins the game. * Arrange a bug scavenger hunt. Hide plastic bugs an ask the kids to look for them and keep what they find. * Create spiders or caterpillars from egg cartons an pipe cleaner. To make a spider you should cut the egge into the individual compartments, paint them black and insert black pipe cleaner to make legs. Glue some googly eyes.  Create a caterpillar using a row of compartments which should be painted. Pile cleaner should be used as legs and add some googly eyes to complete the look.
* Make butterflies using clothes pins and coffee filters. Take the coffee filter and scruch down the middle clip on the pin. Its sides should fan out on the either side. Decorate them, color in the wings and add antennas. The wings of the butterflies can be decorated with sequins. * Take posterboards and make bug headbands. Measure it to the head of each child and staple, glue or tape it. Make antennas from the pipe cleaners and styrofoam balls and tape them onto the headband. * Play a Spider, spider, fly game (the same as duck, duck, goose): spider should catch the fly before he sits down again. * Play "caterpillar limbo". Use a pool noodle for this purpose which should be decorated to look like a caterpillar ( a some antennas and a silly grin).
