Cake: Try to create «a dirt and mud» cake for this theme party. Take a sheet cake and frost it with chocolate frosting. Sprinkle a lot of crumbled Oreo cookie crumbs on the top and add some gummi worms. Bury some under the cookie crumb "dirt". Also you can make individual cupcakes using the same recipe as for the big cake. Another option is to tint white frosting a lime green color and decorate the top with some gummi worms. Food and Snacks for the Party:
Pigs in a blanket. Chiken drumsticks with green ketchup. Lime sherbert. Sparkling apple cider which can be served in the plastic goblets. Shrek cookies which can be made from the Shrek cookie kits (find them in Walmart or Target). You can also allow thre kids to create their own hot "sludge" sundaes using vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream and some gummi worms on top. Games and Activities for the Party: 1) Pin the tail on Donkey which can work well for any party theme. 2) Sword in the Stone (this game is ideal for the ball theme). You need to cut a block of styrofoam into the shape of a stone and then paint it gray. Insert the cocktail swords into the styrofoam «rock» and mark one of the swords. A child who picks the sword with a mark wins the game. 3) Slay the Dragon (perfect for the ball theme). Take a big picture of the dragon which can be printed out or drawn by yourself onto the posterboard and mark a bullseye on your picture. Give the kids child's play bow and arrow and let them take turns in trying to hit the bullseye. Closest to the bullseye wins. 4) Cupcake Walk. This game involves the use of character markers. You should print out the pictures of the characters from the story: Princess Fiona, Puss in Boots, Donkey, Prince Charming, Gingy, etc. The pictures should be arranged in a circle on the ground. Make sure that there are markers for each child. Then write the nams of the characters on the small pieces of paper and put them into a jar or basket, box, etc. While the music is playing everyone should move to the marker ahead until the music stops. Everyone should be on a marker. Draw a name, a child standing on corresponding marker wins and is out of the game. Continue the game until every child has won. The prizes can be mud/dirt cupcakes.
