| Cool-Pool Party | Recommended for kids aged 9-12 At this age, kids have tons of energy. This survivor theme party has plenty of ideas to keep them busy the whole day through. Start by asking the kids to come up with names for their tribes and have them create their own tribal symbols. If weather suitable, be sure to have an outdoor cookout for a truly authentic survivor experience!
Party Favors:
Gummy bug candies like frogs, worms, ants, spiders, water bottle for survival outside in hot weather, a compass, mini flashlights, beach flip flops.
Decorating Ideas:
• Use animal-print or bug embossed bandanas to divide guests into two "tribes". • Use wild animal-print napkins and tablecloths. • Light tiki torches in the entrance or driveway leading up to the house. • Put large plastic bugs and snakes around the house. • Set-up a small tent or use canvas to create a fort shelter; If weather is not cooperating, try to set it up in the family or other room.
Activity Ideas:
• Blindfold Food Challenge - blindfold kids and have them feel foods and select if they will eat it or not... try peeled grapes (eyeballs), cold oiled spaghetti noodles, cold condensed soup or chunks of Jell-O (guts).
• Scavenger Hunt - have kids look for bugs, rocks, types of trees/leaves or hidden prizes.
• Obstacle Course - crawl under a table, hurdle a bench, test balance by walking along a line of tape on the floor/grass, hoola hoop - let your imagination go wild as you set it up!
• Mental Challenge - pick up an old trivia game and select some key outdoor/environmental/science based questions to challenge the teams.
