Retirement Party Planning Guide

Retirement Party Planning Guide

1. Invitations. The invitations should contain the information about the main purpose of this party. For example you can create an imitation paycheck, fake resume with funny descriptions of odd jobs she/he had for the past years or a newspaper headline in which the day of this party wil be declared as a holiday.

You can also add to invitation gifts which can be brought for the retiree by the guests. You can specify the retiree's hobby and wishes so that the guests could know what to bring.

3. Consider Your Budget. It is necessary to calculate the costs for food, drinks, venue and entertainment to determine when, where and how the party will be held.

4. Formulate a Roast. Gather all co-workers together and think about different party ideas such as comments and jokes. You can also choose a host for the party.

5. The Venue. When you choose the place to hold the retirement party it is important to know the personal preferences of the retiree. You need to find out if he or she likes small gatherings or prefers big parties. Does he or she want them to be held in the evening or during the day? Should it be a  luncheon, cocktails or dinner?

6.  Have a Guestbook. Create a personal guest book where all the guests can sign and write good items and massages of luck in the future.

7. Make a toast and ask each co-worker to say a few good words about the honoree.  This will be truly inspiring and touching.

8. Decorations. You should decorate the party place in such a way that they could emphasize job accomplishments of the retiree. For such purpose you can put trophies, photos and awards. Table centerpieces, should display the retiree’s interests or hobby like gardening, golf, cooking, football, etc.

9. If your budget allows you can hire either a photographer or a videographer or both.

10. You can invite to the party the retiree's first boss or previous co-worker and ask him to say something good about the retiree.

11. The dance instructors can be also hired to add life to the celebrartion. They will take all the guests and the retiree to the dance floor and teach them some moves.

If you see that the rertiree enjoys the party a lot  you will enjoy it more!
